What is going on??

Well I can't believe we are spending ANOTHER Christmas waiting for our referral. Insanity is definitely setting in. Thankfully with everything we have going on- including redoing all of our paperwork, fingerprints and INS (immigration) stuff- the days are flying this month.

Several weeks ago the December batch of referrals came in and covered Log in Dates from August 26th, 2005 to September 8th, 2005. Our LID is October 24, 2005. We are inching ever so slowly to the goal. But man, we are inching. There was some strangeness with this batch, as well as a slight decrease in the amount of referrals from the previous month. Some people were skipped over and some with LID's of 9/12/05 and 9/14/05 received their referrals when the cutoff was 9/8 and nobody with 9/9 got theirs. Confusing, I know. You really need a flow chart to understand.

The only way those of us who are waiting are surviving is through an excellent site http://chinaadopttalk.com. This is the Rumor Queen, she is a fellow adoptive mom with one child from China and another on the way. Her site is filled with great resources and analysis. God knows our agencies are giving us NOTHING in the way of info or guidance. We are in free fall. Her identity is a secret and she has some really great inside sources for her info.

Basically what the December referrals mean for us is that we are still expecting late Feb. 2007 or late March 2007 referral and then travelling 4- 8 weeks after that.

Then, this week we were issued a statement from our agency ( everyone was issued similar statements from all the China agencies) that the CCAA (Chinese Center for Adoption Affairs) is drastically changing their requirements for couples to adopt from China. They are no longer allowing singles to adopt, there is a weight minimum, years of marriage min., one divorce min., the fees are going up, the income requirements are going up, net assets going up, NO arrests of any kind (including DUI), no history of depression in last 3 years and the kicker......THE WAIT WILL EVENTUALLY EXCEED 24 MONTHS.

Supposedly, this is not going to effect us, but we have heard that one before. We still meet all the requirements but I just hope the we do not slow down any further. As it is we will have waited 16- 17 months if we get our referral in Feb. or March. Also, we wanted go back for number two so that Zoey had a sibling that she shared a Chinese heritage with. I guess we will just cross that bridge when we come to it.

ARRRRGHHH!
