All was well until Santa steps on board. The funny thing about Z is - she does NOT cry when she is scared. So unless I can see her face change and her hands start wringing I often don't know if something is frightening to her.
Zoey loved meeting the conductor, as you can see, and was very proud of the tickets he punched for her. She is so in love with all things trains, right now.
Blogger posting backwards again- as we left the train- spitting mad at Mama for subjecting her to Santa.
The fateful hug. Santa mistook Z's interest in him for adoration. Really, it is was more like that interest you have in something so remarkably wrong that you just can't look away. This sealed her belief that Santa is indeed evil incarnate.
It seemed like a great idea. A real train ride on a winter's day. An unobtrusive visit from Santa. No picture on his lap- just a chance to watch him from the sidelines and see what a benevolent, jolly man this Santa really was.
Oh how quickly it can go south on the Santa train. Oh well, live and learn. Let's just say Z is the one child in America who is ecstatic that Santa has left town.
The rest of our Holiday was wonderful, although a little overwhelming and exhausting for Z. We are one of those families who it seems that Christmas does not end for. In fact, we just returned home from the last of the Holiday road trips on New Year's Eve. I am ready to be home bound for a while and am looking forward to seeing Reese Witherspoon's new movie, Four Christmas'!
* for those who have asked the beautiful hat is hand knit from Etsy(sorry i am not sure which Etsy store) and was a gift from the lovely Maia!

Awww...glad to see her wearing the hat!!
I love the idea of the Santa train...must look into where we can find such a thing.
I did not subject Q to any Santas this year...she is not afraid of much (at all!) but when she is, she doesn't keep it to herself. She WAILS, instantly and furiously. Only thing so far we have found that scares her, though, is disguises. That includes hats, masks, costumes, fake moustaches, fake noses, even sometimes sunglasses. She does not trust people in disguise. I was pretty sure she would see right through a Santa and know he was in disguise, so...
We did take her to the german festival where they had a santa with a very genuine beard...and she was not happy until she'd reached out and tugged on it to make sure ;)
